Adding Keywords to your Keyword master’s campaign with an URL List

In this article, you will learn how to:

Add Keywords with a list of URLs

The first thing to do is to go in your keyword master selection. You simply have to click on one of the following links, either on your homepage to create a new list of keywords, or on the left sidebar to go on an existing list:

Once you are on your keywords selection, click on the “Add Keywords” button, on the top left of your screen:

A pop up will appear. You need to click on the SEMrush part to use your list of Keywords:

You will land on this pop up.

As explained on the tool, you simply need to paste your URL list in the dedicated area. Then, our Keyword Master tool will collect the keywords associated with the URL (keywords where the URL is ranking), and keep the expressions with the highest search volume.

Therefore, it is important to use already ranking URLs. Using non indexed URLs or too recent ones won’t produce any results !

Once your list is filled in, scroll down to the “Options” section.

In this section, you can select the number of keywords you want by selecting the corresponding option. You should also choose the selected language, for the tool to search the right database:

Finally, if you scroll down a little more, you can filter the type of keywords that you want to add in the section “SEMrush Keyword Filtering”:

Here you can set up your desired filters, based on these indicators:

  • Competitiveness

  • Cost per click

  • Keyword

  • Position

  • Search Volume

  • Estimated traffic

For example, you can collect only keywords with a search volume greater than 10 000 monthly searches.

Once you have configured your import, you simply have to click on the “import” button to start the collecting process.

ADD KEYWORDS WITH A LIST OF KEYWORDS AND SEMRUSH

The first steps are the same than with the list of URL, you need to go to your keyword master campaign (or create a new one), click on the “add keywords'' and go to the SEMrush section.

Once you are on the SEMrush part of the pop up, you need to click on “Based on keywords”:

Then you need to fill in your desired keywords, and the tool will collect the top 3 URLs ranking on these keywords. It will then collect the associated keywords for each of these URLs (using the same process than the URL list), and add them to your campaign:

The “options” and “filtering” sections will work the same way.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you use the “Collect Search Volumes” option, it will cost you more credits.

Searching 1 keyword cost 1 credit, but so does collecting the Search Volume.

So if you want to monitor a keyword and have its search volume, it will cost you 2 credits.

You can always keep track of your consumption using the information at the bottom left of the pop up :

You can then find Semrush's KPIs with your keywords in the table.

ADD KEYWORDS WITH THE SEMRUSH KEYWORD MAGIC TOOL

Many of our users are using this method within Semrush to enhance their corpus of keywords. So we are conviced that adding this API directly within the Keyword Master should help them to save time to work on their keywords research.

To add keyword seamlessly, simply go to add keywords, then to the Semrush module, and scroll down.

You will be able to select this feature and add the keyword you want to work with.

It will provide you a list of broad matches and alternate search queries within your Keyword master's selection.

As usual, you will be able to select the keywords you want to keep in the waiting list.
