Many of you use the SEO Tracking tool to analyse your site's position in search engines and monitor your site's performance and visibility on Google, Bing and Yahoo on a daily basis. Here are the important points to know and take into account when setting up your projects in myposeo.

Choice of Engine

To start adding your SEO tracking analysis project, myposeo offers you the possibility to choose between four search engines such as classic search engines, Youtube, Google Videos or Google Images.

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-01_a__17.39.32.png

Domain, sub-domain, folder and page

When adding a project to the SEO tracking, you should know that you have four possibilities of analysis by entering the URL of your choice:

  • monitoring a domain: mydomaine.com

  • sub-domain: blog.mydomaine.com, www.mydomaine.com ou même fr.sd.mydomaine.com

This option, as its name indicates, allows you to follow the ranking of all the sub-domains associated with a domain. myposeo will then find the best position for the domain and display it in the interface.

If the url found is of the type xx.domain.com, regardless of the prefix found instead of "XX", the tool will consider that the site is present in the search engine.

To track a site and its sub-domains, you need to enter your domain without the "WWW" and check the option to take sub-domains into account in the project configuration section.

This option allows you to take into account the ranking of a site by applying a restriction by folder. If the exact url does not start with the indicated folder, the tool will consider that the site is not positioned.

Example:

I am tracking the ranking of the site www.myposeo.com/products and I would like to take into account the ranking of pages starting with the "references-customers/" folder.

Simply add the project www.myposeo.com/references-customers/ without any additional options.

Note: This configuration can be coupled with a sub-domain as long as you leave the WWWs out and check the domain checkbox. In this case, myposeo will find all subdomains of myposeo.com starting with the clients/ folder.

  • page: mydomaine.com/dossier/page

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-01_a__17.40.09.png

This allows you to track the best position of all results for a specific domain or URL. Note that there is no limit to the number of projects in myposeo, but that you will distribute your keywords over all those you have created. You can also enter a short description of your project.

HTTP and HTTPs protocol support

You have the possibility to configure the taking into account of the protocol in your projects:

now-url-suivi-protocol.png

In this configuration, only HTTPS urls will be detected as a position for the site being monitored.

This opens up perspectives for setting up the follow-up of a migration from HTTP to HTTPS in order to configure a reporting system to measure and manage the impact of the change on all redirections of the site’s pages and on referencing (SEO).

Thanks to the tracking of competing urls in a tracking project, you can configure your tracking in this way:

=> Main URL without taking into account the protocol.

url-principale-no-protocol.png

=> 2 competitors URLs

urls-concurrentes-protocol.png

Thus you can find in the tracking all the positions for each of the HTTP and HTTPS URLs

urls-suivi-1.png

The impact on positions is as follows

positions-protocol-1024x64-1.png

We observe here that the site, fr.myposeo.com, without taking into account the protocol captures the position of the url in http. The same goes for the site that only follows the http.

And for the site that only takes into account https, the position is 2. The url positioned in 1 being in http for this example.

Now, how to use all this with the custom reporting tool.

You can now compare and track the performance of HTTP, HTTPS and 2 condensed URLs on many indicators:

  • Number of keywords ranked

  • Number of pages ranked

  • Attendance rate

  • Estimated traffic…

For example, to track the evolution of the average position of the myposeo site on the 3 URLs. In the edition of the block in question, we must fill in the 3 domains.

  • myposeo.com

  • myposeo.com (https)

  • myposeo.com (http)

You can also compare HTTP data and HTTPS data. In this case, you only need to enter the HTTP domain and in the other case the HTTPS domain.

Types of projects

Myposeo also allows you to select three types of projects, either a simple project whereby the tool takes care of finding the best position for the site in the selected search engine. Or competitive project, which selects all the players displayed in the selected search engine. Or full project.

Consideration of universal search

Taking into account universal search (UR) in the calculation of your position is very important because it can have a significant impact on it. Indeed, we consider that images, news, addresses or even videos are links likely to be clicked by users and we therefore believe that they should be counted as a position.

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-07_a__10.54.46.png

Taking into account the universal search (US) results will count images, news, addresses and videos as positions. A text ad behind 5 images will be 6th, it will be 1st if you don't take into account the US.

Be careful with this setting as it is checked by default in the projects.

Data Collection Frequency

You will need to choose the frequency of data collection:

  • Daily

  • Weekly

  • Monthly

  • Every hour

  • Every 4 hours

  • Every 6 hours

Page depth

The SEO Perf. Tracking can extract data from the first 10 pages of the search engine and provides you with a 1-100 ranking of all your keywords.

You can edit these settings when setting up your project, and you can choose how deep into the SERPs you want to go in to retrieve data from.

Creation and management of keyword groups

This step should be taken into account when creating your project. It consists of either arranging the keywords freely in a free field, which is the default mode, or organising them into thematic groups of keywords by selecting add groups.

add-group

Note that copying a keyword into another group does not result in additional consumption, as the data is the same. However, remember to check your analyses carefully when exporting your group statistics as there may be more keywords in total in your groups than unique keywords in your project.

Choice of Extension

You can also set up your search by selecting the device, the search engine, the country and finally the city to geolocate your project. Note that the latter is an optional choice and the default value will be that of the selected country.

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-01_a__17.49.10.png

By default, not all engines and extensions are displayed. You can configure this list according to your needs and by tool.

The general configuration menu is available here:

ajouter_moteur_3.png

Go to the search settings section. Then click on the "Go to search settings" button and select the engine of your choice and its extension.

The engines are then organised by continent.

search-engines-continent.png

Note: A keyword refers to the term or expression that you wish to track on a search engine.

A keyword can be tracked on several search engines / devices / locations. Keywords are consumed according to the number of combinations there are.

For example:

  • You follow a keyword on google.fr and google.co.uk: 2 keywords are counted

  • You follow a keyword on google.fr (Paris) and google.fr (Marseille): 2 keywords are counted

  • you follow a keyword on desktop and mobile: 2 keywords are counted

How to set up an automatic mail sending?

When creating your SEO Tracking project, once you have entered your domain and keywords, you will be able to configure an automatic email (email diggest) that summarizes the major indicators of your project. By default, the notification is activated.

You then choose the sending frequency:

  • Daily

  • Weekly

  • Monthly

And the recipient(s).

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-09_a__16.55.36.png

For existing projects, the option is not enabled but you just have to go to the project edition and click on “configure notification” to do so.

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-09_a__16.56.58.png

When you click on preview, the ranking overview is sent directly to the email of the connected person.

How to target URLs in your Keyword Tracking Projects?

Do you want to measure your page optimisations and make sure search engines are ranking pages for the keywords you've worked on?

Here's how to configure your Myposeo projects to measure that the right keywords are ranking the right urls on your site.

FIRST

Myposeo does keyword tracking.

We want to clarify this because from the point of view of the tool, it is the url that is the target of the keyword

Others will say that when we optimise a page we are talking about a target keyword.

In any case, you will be able to know if the engines position the page on the queries of your choice.

It is therefore necessary to configure the keywords of your projects to indicate to the tool that your tracked keywords must position a url

Step 1: Add or edit keywords

Target urls can be added after project creation or at creation.

When creating the project - Step 2

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-07_a__11.47.37.png
Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-07_a__11.49.36.png

For an existing project, you can edit your keywords.

The target url then corresponds to a keyword parameter.

Step 2: How to visualise the data?

In the tracking project, View "positions".

Case study:

The target url is reached, then a small black dot is displayed next to the url found for each keyword

Capture_d_e_cran_2020-02-21_a__17.46.34.png

Case study:

The target url is not reached, it is another url that is ranked, so a small empty box is displayed next to the url found for each keyword

Capture_d_e_cran_2020-02-21_a__17.49.26.png

Case study:

The keyword does not target a url, so only the url found is displayed

Capture_d_e_cran_2020-02-21_a__17.53.18.png

In the tracking project, "Targeted pages" view

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-07_a__12.01.24.png

This view lists the target urls of your project and allows you to have pre-calculated metrics on your targets:

  • Average position of the target url

  • Estimated traffic

  • Search volume

  • For each target url

    • Number of tracked keywords that target this url

    • Number of keywords tracked that do not target the url but position it

    • Rate of reaching the targets

      • Number of keywords that target and reach / Number of keywords that target

    • List of keywords that trigger this url

How to Access Data from a Deleted Project

When a project is deleted from your tracking list:

  • Projects are placed and available from the "Archived campaigns" menu

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-01_a__18.11.46.png
  • The position data of a project is kept for 3 months after the project is deleted.

  • If you restore a project after 3 months, only the keywords of the project will be kept.

Note: Since the project has been deleted, the rankings are no longer calculated as that would consume more of your credits for a project that no longer exists. The only thing Myposeo stores is the keywords, in case you wish to restore them in the future.

How to Edit an Active Campaign

Editing a project is accessible via the configuration icon in the main column when you are on the project list page.

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-07_a__11.07.14.png
Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-07_a__11.05.03.png

But also, via the anchored wheel when you are in a project.

Capture_d_e_cran_2021-04-07_a__10.41.16.png

Once on the configuration page, you can modify the url of your project, the search parameters and the management of your competitors.

You also have the possibility to manage the link to the different applications available within the application.
