Configuring a block allows you to select the project in which you want to collect data, the data and the format in which it will be displayed.

Tool and project

The selection of data is carried out in 4 steps:

Tool: Tool from which you want to extract the data. 3 tools are available at the moment: SEO monitoring, SEA monitoring & market analysis

Project: Project from which you want to extract data

Site: Choice of the site and / or competitors of the selected project

Entity: An entity is an object from which you want to extract data

5 entities available within the tool:

- Site: Data on the site and / or its global competitors

- Group: Data on one or more groups of keywords

- Query: Data on one or more keywords

- Page: Data on one or more pages

- Top Site: Data on the top sites of a project

When creating a report for a customer or for your site, you must determine the period you want to analyse: The last 6 months? The last 30 days? Focus on a particular date?

You will therefore configure the analysis period on your report.

So, when you add data blocks (graphs, tables, etc.) these dates will be used to create the visualisations to display your data.

Note that it is possible to customise the analysis period of a block.

It is necessary to differentiate between the default period of the report and any customised block periods.

You have to define some terms to find your way through the explanations.

For example: You want to create a report over a rolling 6-month period. It is therefore necessary to configure a default period of the report which includes 2 dates and a type of data aggregation.

A start date (D1) and an end date (D2).

In the example above: D1 = March 2018 and D2 = Sept 2018

Here is how to configure this type of period

As you can see on the screenshot above: The start and end dates can be fixed or relative.

For our example, we want a rolling period. Therefore, the start and end dates must always be relative to today's date.

It is important to differentiate between 2 elements:

1/ In the Report settings, when we talk about relative dates, we must understand that it is relative to today's date.

2/ The difference with customising the study period of a block is that the dates are relative to the dates chosen to configure the default period of the report.

In our example the default period of the report is:

D1 = March 2018 and D2 = Sept 2018

In a block you will therefore choose your D1 and D2 in relation to March 2018 or Sept 2018
