If you want to be alerted whenever your rankings are dropping, or your traffic, it is possible to set up an alert in J+Search.
Being notified when your performances are changing can be a game changer in the digital activity.
In this article, we will see:
Here is how to set up an alert for your perf tracking:
The first step is to go in the performance tracking in your account.
Then go into the selected project, and click on the “...” at the right :
You need to click on the “Alerts” Button to see the alerts modal.
In this modal, you then need to click on “Add an alert”. You can then select the alert conditions.
Keep in mind that that you can be alerted for various dimensions, and be more specific with the “filtered by” selection on the right:
You can then add your conditions you want to be alerted for.
For instance, if you want to be notified when your estimated traffic drops below 10 000 visitors a month, you can set this alert :
In this alert, filter allows you to be notified about your domain, and the “Trigger conditions” is explicitly saying that you will be alerted if the estimated traffic is less than 10 000 on the second date selected.
If you click on “add filter” again, you can add a subfilter to change the configuration of your alert.
For example, in this configuration you will be alerted when the share of traffic of the keyword group “assurance électronique” of the domain “maaf.com” decreased by 4%, or if the number of keywords ranking 1 to 3 decreased by at least 1.
You can also use the “Tester” option to be sure your alert will be triggered:
The tester conditions feature will allow you to visualise how your alert will look like, and if your conditions are met.
With the same example, the alert would look like this :
Once you are satisfied with your trigger conditions, you can move on to the last part of the alert set up.
In this section, you will be able to change the name of the alert, the frequency of the notification, and specify if you want to receive an email.
Simple Alert
You can create different types of alert. The simplest one, would be using only the "Date 2" option, in order to be notified when there is a change in your entity:
for example, this alert would notify you when your keywords are in position 1 or 2 at the 2nd date:
Comparison Alerts
If you want to monitor an evolution, compare results between two dates, you need to create at least 2 trigger conditions, one using "Date 1" and the other using "Date 2".
For example, this alert would notify you when your keyword was in the top 3 on the first date, and went out of top 3 on the second date:
Multiple conditions Alerts
If you want to use a comparison, only on certain data, you can use the same set up as the "Comparison alert" and add other trigger conditions:
In this example, you will be notified on keyword with search volumes greater than 1000, which were in the top 3 on the first date and went out on the second date:
Remember that if you select the option “Be alerted only if values or entities change between 2 dates”, you will be notified only if the value changes between the compared date.
This means, if you are alerted about 10 keywords in a first alert, and these keywords rankings don't change the next day, you won't be notified a second time.
However, if a new keyword triggers the alert, you will be notified for this keyword.
Receive an email
If you want to receive the alert by email, check the condition, and fill in the required fields:
The recipient is the account email, but you can change it if you want.
By selecting the “adding custom content” option, you can add custom text that will appear in the email if the alert is triggered.
When you approve your alert, it will appear in the alert section, in this aspect :
If there is a number at a specific date, it means the alert is triggered, so in this example, it means the estimated traffic dropped below 10 000 on the 19th of October.
If you have selected the “email” warning option, you will receive an email looking like this :
